I started understanding my fashion sense in 2024 when I first started university. University is a teenagers first taste of freedom. I had a job and therefore I had money – my money to spend. I was able to start purchasing items like clothes, jewellery and accessories, without having to ask for permission from my parents, and that’s when it all started. I started saving up to get tattoos and piercings. I realised I liked wearing rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. I started doing my own nails and finally, I started dressing in a way that suited the Maria I wanted to portray.
